The week after Christmas it's a family tradition to head over to Palm Springs for some relaxation with my family. This year we had the privilege of meeting my brother's new girlfriend Sarah. Unbeknownst to Sarah, we all knew that Josh (aka "The Deaf Chef") would be proposing a few days later when they headed back to Sarah's hometown in NY.

Josh had asked me if I would mind taking some pre-engagment pictures of him and Sarah, and of course I was more than thrilled to do so! We were staying at an amazing time share right on a golf course, and surrounded by mountains. It was definitely the perfect setting for some fun and romantic images.

I've gotta say, Sarah is such a sweetheart and I'm thrilled my brother has found someone great to love and share his life with. The love between these two is just so apparent and they really are full of joy when they are together. Oh, and for anyone wondering... she said YES! Congrats you guys, and welcome to the family Sarah! I can't wait to make many more memories with you in the future.

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the last beautiful senior in the Sales family. Three girls back to back, their parents are saints! Seriously, this set of sisters are just beyond gorgeous... and they all have the sweetest and kindest hearts making them even more beautiful! Olivia loves to read... and eat... so we decided to incorporate both those things into her senior session. How can you go wrong with an old bookstore and ice cream? We had so much fun during this session and it was a pleasure as always to spend the day with her and her amazing mom. Thanks so much Olivia for allowing me to capture these memories for you. I hope you always look back on them with a smile remembering just how you were as a senior!

Marlowe's Oma asked me if I could do a session of her adorable granddaughter for her 2nd Birthday. She wanted to surprise her daughter in law at the birthday party with portraits of Marlowe and I was more than happy to help out! Marlowe was absolutely the sweetest little 2 year old ever. She had such a gentle spirit and her little laugh when her Opa got her giggling was just too precious. It's so rewarding to photograph such wonderful people who are so kind and loving. Their love for each other was just so apparent and it ended up being one of my favorite sessions to date. Thanks so much Betty for choosing me to catch these special moments for you. I hope the surprise went well and your daughter in law loved the images we got!

You may remember that I got to photograph my adorable new niece Catalina as a newborn. Well, it's been a whole year and she is now a cute chunky little one year old. My brother and sister-in-law came down from Anaheim so I could do her 1 year session. I can't believe how big she has gotten. Seriously though, is there anything better than chunky little rolls on a baby? I could just eat her up! Love you guys and I'm so glad you were able to make it down! Happy Birthday Catalina!!!

I always love it when I get to see clients back in the studio. I had the pleasure of doing a newborn session for Jedidiah back in November of 2009. He's now the proud big brother to this adorable little guy Simeon. It was fun to look back at their images side by side and see how different they are. Thanks so much Jami and Paul for choosing me again and letting me cuddle your newest little family member. He's such a sweetheart and I'm sure he and Jed will be so close as they grow up!

I snuck a few cute shots of daddy and big brother and am so glad I did. You can tell they have such a great bond!

I had the pleasure of photographing this little cutie last year when she was just an itty bitty newborn. I can't believe she's already ONE! It was so exciting to see her again for her one year session. Not only is she adorable, but she's so good and was perfectly happy hanging out while I did my thing. Sometimes you meet people in your life that... well... change it. This family has been that for me. Carlos used to be the small groups pastor at our old church, until he took a leap of faith and decided to become a full time missionary. What faith to step out of your comfort zone and rely 100% on God for your families well being. I can't imagine the strength it would take to have that type of faith, but this family has exactly that.

Carlos is doing such great things with his ministry and has recently started his own non-profit called Reaching the Hungry in Word and Deed. He works to get churches involved directly with their missionaries so they are being proactive in working towards reaching the hungry throughout our world. He helps provide or do practical things they need such as teaching them to more effectively grow their own food, providing mosquito nets, digging water wells, or even something as simple as sponsoring children through his alliance with World Vision. He then pairs the deed with the word of God via talking Bibles so that those who can't read are still blessed... well, you can imagine the outcome. Thousands of people are having their basic needs met and they are coming to Christ at the same time. I'm so excited to be partnering with his ministry and I hope you take a minute to check it out.

I don't give back nearly enough with my photography but am so blessed to do so with this family when I can. You've seen his gorgeous daughters senior pictures in the past and here they are all together for a session I did for them this past fall. Thank you so much Carlos and Lisa, for what you do and what you give up to help those in need. You are truly a blessing to everyone around you and I can't wait to see your ministry blossom.

Sometimes I feel blessed beyond words! This was the second opportunity I had this year to fly to another state and do what I love with some highly admired photographers who I am lucky to call close friends. This specific session was a stylized wedding shoot meant to emulate a "day after" session. We wanted to show people that wedding portraits can be fun and styled to fit your personality. Our lovely "bride" Kim is also a talented photographer and we were lucky enough to get her and her handsome hubby Jay on the other side of the camera. We had a great time and it was so inspiring to see the way others work. For one of our sessions we went to a local college and did some senior portraits. This past weekend I was honored with the opportunity to go incognito and photograph my sister's engagement. I worked with her finance Matt to be in the right place at the right time and capture these unforgettable moments for them. She didn't even realize I was there... even after he pointed me out. I guess my hat and over-sized sweatshirt definitely did the trick. She was absolutely beaming after it happened and I was so excited to witness this special moment first hand. I recently had my first senior session and I must say... I loved it!!! What a pleasure to work with not 1, but 3 gorgeous sisters who could sit still and take direction. Such a change from my usual work with kids and newborns. Poor girls, I'm sure they were exhausted by the time I was done with them. I had so much fun with Gracie and her sisters, and hope I get the chance to work with the other 2 again when they hit their senior year. I would make a joke about how I can't imagine raising 3 high school girls at the same time, but these were the sweetest, most polite and down to earth high schoolers you will ever meet and it was a total pleasure working with them. In Loving Memory

My amazing grandfather just went home to be with the Lord. He was a wonderful man and I am so very blessed to have had him in my life for so many years. He will definitely be missed, but will be welcomed into heaven with open arms by so many who loved him before. Love you grandpa!

This past weekend I got the opportunity to photograph a newborn for a family I photographed back in the fall. They are a gorgeous family and of course created an equally gorgeous little girl. Brenna was such a sweetie and although she wasn't quite as sleepy as she would have been in her first week of life, she slept in enough bursts that I was able to take advantage of it and get some great shots. Last Saturday I had the honor and pleasure of photographing my Aunt's wedding. It was a beautiful and small family affair that took place at my parents home. Before the ceremony we did wedding portraits at the stunning Four Seasons Resort Aviara in Carlsbad. It was a gorgeous backdrop for this even more gorgeous couple. I couldn't be happier for my Aunt Cheryl and her new husband Olan. They have definitely found true love and it was an amazing thing to witness. My best friends little guy had his first birthday and I finally got him in my studio for his 1 year portraits! He's so adorable and I could just photograph him all day. We had originally planned for a smash cake session... but after his birthday party we realized that wouldn't be a good idea with his obvious dislike for cake. Instead I got this new basket just for this occasion and he loved it. He actually cried when we took him out which was pretty funny. Thanks so much for bringing him over Leah & Sam. I was so excited when I got an email saying my next newborn had been born and was ready for a session. It’s been nice having some time off, but I really missed being behind the camera. I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! It's been a busy holiday season and will be nice to have a bit of a break over the next week. I'm so blessed and so very grateful for how everything is going and I'd like to thank everyone who has giving me a chance to photograph their children over this past year while I learn and grow my business. I'm already booking up for January, and am so excited to see where 2009 will take me. I look forward to continuing to capture your children as they grow and change, and look forward to starting on that journey with many more of you.

Kyle 6 Months – Sneak Peek

Little Kyle was back for more! My 2nd Newborn has turned into quite the adorable 6 month old. He’s so cute and such a good little guy. I can’t believe how big he has gotten and he’s sitting up so well. I’m sure he’ll be crawling in no time. I absolutely loved his little cashmere outfit that was a gift to his mommy before he was born. He looked so cute and cuddly it made me want to just squeeze him! Jager & Berlin – Sneak Peek

My brother and sister in law came down yesterday for a photoshoot with their new German Shepherd puppies Jager & Berlin. We got rained out about 30 minutes into our shoot, but it was just enough time to get a few good family shots. The dogs were just beautiful and very well behaved and although they were worried it would be a disaster it actually went really well. I must say that a photoshoot with 2 dogs is still easier than a shoot with a child any day! I’m so excited that I FINALLY got a chance to have a session with my best friend’s kiddos. Leah and I have been best friends since we were 11 and have remained close and lived near each other since then. I’ve been bugging her to bring Violet & Wright over for the past few months, but I think she was just waiting for me to get my new camera in! (More about that later.) I just finished proofing the 2nd family session I did this past weekend. I headed over to the lake with the B family and there was beautiful lighting before sunset. Their son Braden is a year and a half and such a cute little guy. He was so serious, but I did manage to get a few smiles out of him. He wanted to just run and explore and I had a great time chasing him around and capturing this beautiful family. I got the chance to try out my photography skills on my friend Katie and her sister Aimee’s newborns a few months back. I knew I would love newborn photography and Megan and Kyle will always hold a special place in my heart. They were my first 2 newborns and gave me the opportunity to do the type of photography I had always wanted to do. When they contacted me to see if I would be interested in doing a family session for Holiday photos I was more than happy to do so. They welcomed me into their parent’s home and we did a shoot right in the backyard. It was a beautiful property and I wish we had gotten to take advantage of more of it. I've been looking forward to my first smash cake session for quite some time now. For those who aren't familiar with this, it's a session for a 1 year old where I photograph them in my studio enjoying their first cake... and well... smashing it! :) I had the pleasure of photographing Abbie on her actual birthday. She was such a sweetie and was so good. She was a little scared of me at first, but warmed up to me after a bit and we had a lot of fun. She wasn't too sure of her cake and didn't like getting dirty, so once she got a little messy she was pretty much done. I definitely love this age, and can't wait to do more. Happy 1st Birthday Abbie!!!

Sneak Peek - The A Family

I just got done doing a family session for some of our friends from church. They are such a gorgeous family and I'm so lucky to have them in my portfolio. They were up for anything so we were able to get some fun creative stuff (well as much as you can get when you're trying to get a 2 year old to participate.) We headed to the lake and I had a great time running around with the boys and capturing them being themselves. Thanks so much for spending the afternoon with me Jeff & Lyn. Sneak Peek – Elizabeth & Rebecca

I got the opportunity to do my first family photoshoot on location. Our friends from college came down and I got to photograph their beautiful 2 ½ and 1 year old daughters Elizabeth and Rebecca. They were so adorable with the most gorgeous blue eyes ever. We started out in the studio and then went to a park to get some outdoor family shots. We had a lot of fun and I think I got some great photos for them to remember their family at this point in their lives. I also captured what little bit of fall we actually get here in San Diego which was such a pleasure. I hope you enjoy these Karen & Isaac!

Newborn Sneak Peek – Baby Abbi

This past weekend I got the opportunity to photograph our friends new baby girl Abbi. She was just 5 days old and so adorable. Her big sister Evelynn is such a sweetie and although she didn’t want to have her picture taken, we were able to convince her to get a few pictures with her sister. Sneak Peek – Newborn Baby Jack

I got a referral from the friend of a family member who saw my last newborn shoot. They were such a sweet family, and baby Jack was just 2 weeks old and so adorable. What is it with the 2nd children that just lay there and act perfect? He never made a single sound, and although he didn’t want to sleep at all he was so great. I got lucky that he shut his eyes for about 1 minute at the end of the session, which gave me a few sleepy looking shots that are just perfect. Enjoy the sneak peek Kristen & Justin!

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a handsome little 4-week-old Travis and his family. He slept almost the whole time and let me position him all around, and then never made a peep once he was awake. He was such a sweetie as was his older brother Trevor who was also such a great little guy and so photogenic. I recently got the opportunity to get my niece Breanna into my studio. She’s 2 ½ and such a cutie. She was so fun to photograph and I enjoyed the opportunity to take pictures of her in her Cinderella costume that she just got at Disneyland for Halloween. I’m so glad you got to bring her over Tracy & Keith, and I hope you love what I captured!

Modeling Shoot - Victoria's Sneak Peek

This past weekend I had the opportunity to do something a bit different and photograph an aspiring model. We did head-shots and portfolio building and I had a great time. It was so nice to work with someone who made eye contact and posed well and I really enjoyed it and hope that Victoria had a good time as well. Newborn Sneak Peek – Brody

I recently got the opportunity to photograph a former colleagues son’s newborn baby. Brody was just 6 days old and such a great little guy. He never made a peep the entire session, and once we finally got him to sleep I was able to get a bunch of great shots. I think we had a great session and I hope mom & dad are pleased. Congrats on your little guy Matt & Shelly, he’s absolutely adorable and you are both so lucky! I hope you love them!

Sneak Peek – Newborn Baby Kyle

After I finished my last newborn shoot for my friend Katie, I got a call from her sister who had a 6 week old son. She asked if I would do pictures for them, and I was so excited for the opportunity. Kyle was such a sweetheart, and although he was no longer a tiny sleepy newborn that wanted to curl up into a ball, he was still an adorable little guy with beautiful blue eyes that I was more than happy to photograph. He didn’t want to sleep unless he was being held, and the few times we tried to lay him down he woke right up. I feel like we still got some great shots though and I hope the parents love them and will always remember Kyle as their happy little 6 week old! Thanks Aimee & Scott, I hope you enjoy these!

This past week I had my first session with my friends adorable little girls Katelyn & Alyssa. They were so sweet and such a dream to work with. I enjoyed my time with them so much and hope they had fun as well. Older sis Katelyn was such a natural and I would be honored to shoot her again in the future. Seriously, I think she needs to go into modeling or something… she knows how to work it! I had trouble narrowing it down as there are a bunch more I love, but these are a few of my favorites!
